Candidate shall be responsible for providing technical and operational support; as well as subject matter expertise for Frequency Division Multiple Accesses (FDMA); Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA); Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Tactical Satellite (TACSAT); INMARSAT Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN); Global Broadcast Satellite (GBS); High-Performance Waveform (HPW); and other satellite communication (SATCOM) networks. Candidates shall be directly involved in configuring networks; monitoring systems; activating remote terminals; as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports and problems related to baseband; intermediate frequency (IF); and radio frequency (RF) communications.

Candidate shall analyze Satellite Access Requests (SARs); Gateway Access Requests (GARs); Satellite Access Authorizations (SAAs); Gateway Access Authorizations (GAAs); Telecommunication Service Requests (TSRs); Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs); Transmission Plans; and other documentation to determine SATCOM configuration requirements and alternatives and then report the results to the Government as required.

Candidate shall utilize Government-provided tools and applications to develop network diagrams and cut sheets based on their analyses Candidates shall provide daily status reports on equipment; network availability; and network utilization using Government-provided tools and applications and shall enter outage and restoral information into the Government's trouble management system.

Documents and maintains records pertaining to satellite communications systems. Ensures availability of satellite resources; maintains and provides subject matter expertise to enable seamless integration and management of satellite communications resources; conducts network operations, performs quality control tests; prepares system and equipment forms and reports. Assists in recommending design; modifies and upgrades assigned satellite communications systems as required. Travel to participate in meetings and conferences, including in-progress reviews may take place at locations outside of the normal duty location and may require extensive travel in a temporary duty status.

 

Installs satellite communications and associated support equipment for training, operational missions, and regularly scheduled maintenance. Operates and performs preventive maintenance on unit assigned satellite communications equipment, vehicles, power generators, and all supporting devices, sets, kits, and outfits. Conducts regularly scheduled maintenance of satellite communications and support equipment; includes: satellite terminals, generators, network support equipment; computer equipment; test equipment; other devices and support equipment.

Coordinates multiple aspects of management to include requesting and attaining satellite and gateway access, preparing and implementing training plans, managing personnel and administrative requirements in order to ensure satellite communications missions are accomplished. Corresponds with G6 staff and users to resolve telecom issues, equipment capabilities, requirements, and resources. Integrates end user computers to operate with satellite technology. Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of a wide variety of computer systems and peripheral devices. Uses standard diagnostic and utility software packages to analyze and perform computer maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Uses standard computer commands to help identify defective components. Replaces faulty computer parts and components with new components. Uses various types of diagnostic and test equipment to test cables and telephone lines. Loads and assists users in the installation and use of various software packages. Assists with the installation, setup, upgrade, and configuration of various types of computer systems and peripherals. Involved in all aspects of satellite communications and other duties as assigned to ensure all communications network operations are successful.

At least three years of experience in planning and operating FDMA; TDMA; UHF TACSAT; INMARSAT BGAN; GBS; HPW; and other commercial and military tactical satellite communications systems

- Expert knowledge of satellite ground station equipment and how to interface it with terrestrial systems (e.g.; Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways and other telephony systems)

- Ability to plan and implement hybrid networks (e.g.; terrestrial; satellite; and fiber)

- Subject matter expertise in the RF theory associated with both commercial and tactical military satellite bands (e.g.; L;C;X;Ku;and Ka)

- Knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures; standards; system; hardware and software.

- Ability MUST be able to create; analyze; and process SARs; GARs; SAAs; GAAs; TSRs; and TSOs

 

- MUST be able to submit, review and interpret ASR (Army Service Request) and ASA (Army Service Authorization) from the ACAS (Army Centralized ASR System) site.

- Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) Communications Security (COMSEC)

 

- Ability to troubleshoot end device issues such as computers, printers, and VoIPs

 

- Candidate must obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification within 90 days of hire.

 

- Candidate must obtain ITIL Foundation within 90 days of hire.

 

- Must be able to work independently 

 

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds post

Education Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 2-5 years of directly related computer systems analysis and/or programming experience.
