BA preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:



  • Has strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Has the ability to work successfully in a fast-faced, high volume work environment while maintaining a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and detail

  • Has the ability to write clear and appropriately detailed reference checks and other documents as needed

  • Has demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with internal staff members at different levels within the department and school division, and to make successful contacts with individuals listed as references

  • Has a strong working knowledge of MS Office computer applications, social media and internet search functions, and possesses the ability to learn new computer programs related to this position

  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and possesses the ability to maintain confidentiality and to comply with school division policy and procedures

  • Bi-lingual preferred, but not required

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:


The Pre-Employment Specialist is directly responsible to the Human Resources and Talent Development Supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

The primary responsibilities of the Pre-Employment Specialist are to conduct employment reference checks for persons making application for employment with Loudoun County Public Schools, and to process fingerprints and ID badges for new hires to the school division. The Pre-Employment Specialist also assists with internal investigations into violations of School Board policy.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Conducts employment reference checks on candidates applying to the school division and appropriately documents in writing the results of the reference check

  • Conducts criminal background checks on new hires through processing and submission of fingerprints and any other relevant information to the Virginia State Police and the FBI, and then monitors system for results returned

  • Processes ID badges for all new employees and replacement badges for current employees

  • Assists Personnel Specialists with internal investigations

  • Conducts record checks using law enforcement and public information court databases

  • Attends recruitment fairs and other Department of Personnel Services events which may require some evening, early morning, and/or weekend hours, and overnight travel

  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned
