The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America’s (SHEA) mission is to promote the prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance and to advance the fields of healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship. SHEA improves public health by setting infection prevention guidelines and optimizing antibiotic use among healthcare providers. We do all of this by leading research studies, translating research into clinical practice, developing smart policy, promoting antibiotic stewardship, and advancing the field of healthcare epidemiology. Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive project management for educational programs including programs associated with continuing medical education compliance, accreditation and outcomes assessment for the society.

Essential Responsibilities


Project Management and Content Development

  • Manages program and content development for SHEA educational courses for both in person meetings as well as online educational resources
  • Develops program timelines and manages them to ensure successful completion of projects
  • Manages SHEA’s LMS (Learning Management System) programs such as webinars, podcasts, virtual meetings, etc., including layout of content, execution, posttests and evaluation.
  • Assesses and provides annual evaluation of SHEA’s educational projects with input from SHEA staff and relevant standing committees
  • Collaborates with the Director, on identifying and implementing strategies for educational deliverables


Logistical Management

  • Manages logistical planning from site selection, vendor negotiation, event registration, onsite staffing, transportation, abstracts, supplies, speaker management and status reports
  • Manages program planning committees and speakers for courses
  • Formulates marketing plans to grow program participation
  • Perform regular editing of specified web pages to promote program messaging
  • Prepares and executes event specs with event venues
  • Create event collateral and signage
  • Oversee conference meeting app, including set-up, on-going management, on-site updates, and post-conference analytics
  • Assists with grant applications for all programs as needed


CME Compliance

  • In collaboration with the Director, ensures organizational compliance with ACCME guidelines for CME program design and use of commercial support
  • Collaborates with Director to ensure conflict of interest review and resolution process is consistently implemented
  • Implements evaluation, survey and other methods to identify ongoing practice gaps and performance improvement of SHEA’s CME offerings
  • Manages CNE (Continuing Nursing Education) and CPE (Continuing Pharmacy Education) credentialing, compliance and related processes as needed


  • Performs other assigned duties and assists the SHEA team when needed


Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Strong proficiency with Excel and related Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and pdf documents
    • Excellent writing, oral communication and customer service skills
    • Familiarity with ACCME requirements and guidelines a plus
    • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, online learning tools and websites a plus
    • Ability to collaborate, cooperate and be flexible
    • Ability to work calmly and effectively in stressful situations
    • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and able to meet and manage multiple deadlines
    • Self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems with minimum guidance
    • Ability to work in a team environment



Education and Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in educational program development and/or event management   (live meetings and online learning)
    • Familiarity with ACCME guidelines for continuing medical education a plus
    • Experience with mobile apps, webinar applications, LMS and association databases a plus

Minimum degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree  in relevant field or 3 years of related experience
