Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Program Officer based in Washington DC. The PO reports to the Coordinator for Education Abroad and supports education abroad program activity.  You will be a key link between AMIDEAST HQ and U.S. students, home institutions, and our field office staff members delivering our sponsored programs in the Middle East and Northern Africa Region (MENA). The incumbent’s responsibilities will include the following,

Responsibilities:             

  • You will manage our involvement in U.S. Department of State funded programs, including YES Abroad and the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Programs
  • Coordinate with the donor and prime contractor (currently American Councils for International Education), including representing us in meetings of the YES Abroad Consortium and the Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
  • Oversee Ed-Abroad budgets for designated programs, including participation in annual budgeting process, and monitoring of expenses against budget
  • Serve as the point of contact for prospective students and responding to their inquiries in a timely manner and supervise interns, including training and assigning and monitoring tasks
  • Screen student applications against the criteria and process student admissions as well as participate in the selection of YES Abroad students
  • Maintain our master list of campus visits, research study abroad fairs, budget for trips, set up meetings, assess impact of the visits and contribute to the development of a long term marketing strategy
  • Collaborate with field office staff regarding our programs from development through implementation, monitoring, and final reporting
  • Track application statistics, including comparative data over time and conduct pre-departure webinars with students admitted to our semester and summer programs
  • Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time

Qualifications: 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional education abroad experience, including within MENA region
  • Experience with administration of U.S. government-funded programs
