Integration Systems Engineer III - Enterprise Monitoring
The engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting PenFed’s emerging IT environment and monitoring systems.Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Serve as the subject matter expert in enterprise monitoring.
Work cross-functionally with engineers and end-users to design, implement, and maintain application systems and IT infrastructure.
Provide technical vision on IT technologies, with a strong sense of ownership.
Deploy, manage, and administer selected IT management tools and applications (ScienceLogic, SolarWinds).
Create systems dashboards to satisfy end-user requirements.
Create automated runbooks (such as auto-remediation activities, auto-creating service desk tickets, and alert notifications).
Participates in on-call 24X7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for projects assigned.
Keep architectural and technical documentation updated including installation and configuration procedures.
Work closely with the Service Desk and Engineering teams as well as with technical and non-technical personnel within and across PenFed departments and vendors.
Comply with Incident Management and Severity 1 escalation procedures and reporting practices.
Record all information associated with incidents, problems and/or requests in the Service Desk ticketing system in an accurate and timely manner.
Continuous skills enhancement in a dynamic technical environment is required.
Stay informed regarding advances in enterprise monitoring technologies. Maintain understanding of emerging architecture concepts and methods and associated technology trends.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to minimize process impact to the production environment.

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. Minimum seven years’ on-the-job experience as a Systems Engineer is preferred.
Three years’ experience configuring and managing enterprise and application monitoring tools.
Must possess advanced working knowledge of IT systems include: Windows, Linux, Active Directory, MS SQL, MySQL, and Networking required.
Deployment of infrastructure monitoring tools in a high-availability enterprise.
Clear understanding of some of the enterprise monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, NetBrain, Plixer-Scrutinizer etc.
Exhibit mastery of scripting, PowerShell required.
Strong technical aptitude and work ethic. Good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. Must be flexible and be able to adapt to quickly changing priorities.
Must be a good team member and be flexible with work schedules. Requires ability to work “off hours” to implement solutions in order to limit impact/exposure to customers and being “on-call” as assigned.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to relay technical information to non-technical users.
Requires physical ability to mount servers on cabinets and running cables to servers. Physical requirements vary depending on what is being done, but may include: lifting floor tiles, lifting boxes, mounting server rails, pulling strands of cable, physical dexterity of the hands to run cables and bolt rails in the cabinets.
This position will supervise employees
MCESE, VMware, CCNA certification are preferred but not required.
