Senior Financial Systems Lead, Administrative Services - University Services

The Senior Financial Systems Lead is responsible for analyzing and coordinating the successful procurement, accounts payable and banking systems operations for Georgetown University in the Workday Financials, the accounting system of record for Georgetown.  In addition to maintaining existing system operations, s/he leads the execution of full life cycle development of new Workday functionality; provides communication, supports training development, and manages migration of data into the system; and serves as a steward for the financial health of the university by providing leadership and guidance to the central financial offices, academic offices, and other appropriate administrative units to continue successful operations of the functional areas of the Workday Financials system.  Reporting to the Director of Financial Systems and Processes, the Senior Financial Systems Lead has duties that include but are not limited to:

System Design and Configuration

  • Evaluates, documents, tests, and makes recommendations on system design and configuration for Georgetown University's financial processes, including purchase requisitions, standing purchase orders, contracts, check and electronic payment processing, 1099 reporting, supplier database, encumbrances, expenses, assets, budgets, projects, revenue recognition, billing and collections, and other processes. 
  • Participates in the development of test and implementation plans - test scenarios, test data, and expected results. 

Documentation of Business Processes

  • Modifies and creates GU policies and procedures.  
  • Tests the business processes in Workday.  
  • Documents and conducts training for all business processes.  
  • Completes weekly status reports for the Project Director.  
  • Conducts weekly status meetings to proactively communicate the progress of the ongoing projects.

Communication

  • Meets with relevant University departments and stakeholders to understand current procurement and payable processes and to analyze how best to build or amend processes, work flow, and data to improve system solutions. 
  • Recommends changes to current processes or new processes based on the review and analysis of business requirements and how they will be carried out in the new system, and follows up consistently with stakeholders to drive completion of projects. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field - Master's degree preferred
  • C.P.A., P.M.P., or other related certification preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Combination of project management, accounting and technical skills
  • Knowledge of both non-profit accounting and rapid agile prototyping
  • Ability to manage several priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities with multiple seniority levels
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills in order to produce timely, efficient and high quality deliverables
