  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or closely related field) and at least three years’ experience as an administrator in a comparable position. An equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide for the successful completion of the assigned responsibilities may be considered

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fund accounting, as well as theory, principles, practices and techniques of public sector accounting and financial management systems

  • Work with enterprise financial management systems of a large organization is preferred

  • Oracle experience in a school system is preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is required

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure in a fast paced environment

  • Good customer service and clear, objective communications


ORGANIATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:


The Financial Services Coordinator reports to the Financial Services Supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Financial Services Coordinator is part of the management team administering the financial transactions for the school division programs and activities. This position is responsible for administrative and technical accounting duties related to the division’s accounts receivable and revenue recognition in the Oracle financial system. This position exercises leadership to design, implement, maintain, assess and revise accounting processes. Independent judgment is necessary in applying acquired knowledge and skills to the performance of responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Performs professional and technical duties in the recording and reconciliation of all revenue received and in the analysis, implementation, and monitoring of departmental programs

  • Performs regular, and as requested, research and statistical analysis of financial transactions

  • Maintains effective working relationships through collaborative communications with staff, other departments, and other public agencies

  • Adheres to School Board Policies as well as other related or required regulations

  • Recommends process improvements for increased operational efficiency

  • Administers accounts receivable collection efforts

  • Monitors the distribution of accounts payable and payroll checks

  • Maintains timely and accurate records with supporting documentation

  • Demonstrates ethical conduct as well as appropriate judgment, independence and discretion
