Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Department 717, Subacute Care Unit Schedule Full Time Shift Nights 12 Hour Shifts (7pm - 7:30am) Hours 36 Job Details Under direct supervision assists the professional nurse in providing direct and indirect patient care. Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience At least 6 months experience in direct patient care with acute/chronic care, in the Med/Surg patient population preferred. Skills A' . Ability to read and write English in order to provide basic patient care, to understand and communicate detailed instructions relating to basic patient care, and perform simple arithmetic calculations in order to take and record weights, vital signs, and routine information on patient charts. A' . Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff in a courteous manner. A' . Competent to safety handle medications Licensures, Certifications A' . Heart Saver (CPR Certification). A' . CNA/GNA A' . Current registration with State of Maryland Board of Nursing Examiners of Nurses as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant Physical Requirements A' | Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail when performing basic patient care tasks. A' | Ability to walk and stand up to ninety percent (90%) of work time and ability to lift and position patients. Working Conditions A' | Normal patient care environment with exposure to noise, dust and temperature. A' | Occasional (up to fifty percent of work time) exposure to adverse working conditions due to patient care activities and potential exposure to communicable diseases. Conditions of Employment A' . Successful completion of a Maryland Board approved basic skills testing and orientation. A' . Maintain current certification with MBON A' . Maintain current certification in CPR.
