Catering Sales Manager -- Hotel Division
Job DescriptionJoin the Opening Team now for our new Hotel at the University of Maryland Actively identify, confirm and qualify new business for the hotelRegularly attend industry meetings and networking events to identify new business and be aware of industry trends, etc.Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clientsNegotiate food and beverage and guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelinesAccurately produce and/or review all catering contracts, and/or banquet and event ordersWork closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clientsActs as liaison between client and operating departments to ensure a successful event and to generate repeat businessEnsure proper collection of funds for events, both directly with the client and with the accounting teamProduce monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts Education & Experience Required 1-3 years demonstrated catering sales experience, preferably in a hospitality or food and beverage environmentHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociates degree in relevant field preferredProficiency in MS Office Word, Excel and OutlookKnowledge of industry systems and software - accounting, Roommaster, Seriousware, Visual One, Delphi, Meeting Matrix, etc., preferred Please note: Start date: March 2017 There is no relocation assistance available for this positionCompany DescriptionSouthern Management Corporation, a privately held real estate firm, owns and manages 24,000 apartment-homes, office centers, a boutique hotel and a ski resort, all in the mid-Atlantic region.
