Job DescriptionPrimary Function:The Battery Technician is responsible for operating a battery test, recording system to monitor and test approximately 700 24 volt and 200 36 volt batteries; which includes adjusting the specific gravity of each cell prior to testing. Maintain the MTC battery changing system. Job Responsibilities & Activities:Communicate with supplier about warranty issues.Be able to rebuild batteries by replacing cells, connectors and cables (etc).Be able to burn lead to make connections and cast connectors.Be able to do acid adjustments to batteries.Be able to run diagnostics on BatteryA cents € (TM) s using a BATTERY TEST INC. system.Monitor and order all supplies used in the MTC battery charger and repair shop, such as: acids, cells, tape, connectors (etc).Keep inventory of all MTC changing system parts in inventory.Be able to do all repairs and PM (preventable maintenance) to MTC changer and changing system.Be able to access and upkeep E-BATT system.Monitor all cleaning and watering of batteries in the change aisles to insure that it is being done properly and training of new battery personnel.Gather all the paperwork from battery personnel and give to Lead Person daily.Notify supervisor of equipment not working properly, ex. MTC (Battery Changer), chargers, cleaning stations and E-BATT. system (etc).Package and dispose of used acids and batteries. Properly record serial numbers of new and used batteries.Receive all new batteries & record new serial numbers. Keep battery inventory accurate.Working knowledge of electrical circuits and electronics.Fill in for battery change associates during absences, weeklong scheduled vacations or as needed.Monitor, test and maintain the batteries for the UPS Systems, and test run the generator sets weekly for preventative maintenance. Must have the ability to represent the companyA cents € (TM) s interests to outside parties.Possess good communication skillsDeal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions Physical EnvironmentExposure to welding flash, fumes, oil/grease/dirt, solvents, excessive noise, and temperature variations from -15 to 100+ Fahrenheit.Must be able to handle equipment/tools weighing up to 100 lbs.Requires stooping, kneeling, turning/twisting, and bending at waist. Moving & pushing furniture and equipment weighing up to 1200 lbsFrequent use of Forklifts, Motorized Pallet Jacks, and Multi-level Battery Changing EquipmentMust be able to safely use step ladders, extension ladders and Sky-Jack lifts for battery charger repair accessCompany DescriptionWe need you!
