Overview:Key responsibility for the success of a major product or product line by managing the product(s) through the entire product life-cycle. Manages all activities necessary to ensure achievement of revenue and profit objectives. Plays strong pro-active role in identifying and recommending new product(s) that penetrate existing markets and/or capitalize on business opportunities in new markets. Synthesizes product research, market research and competition in defining, developing and enhancing products. Is innovative in the use of technical or marketing technology to solve complex market or customer problems. Develops product plans that address key product management questions (market size, segmentation, trends, market share) by synthesizing primary and secondary research. Applies in-depth knowledge of market trends, workflow patterns, user needs, competition, distribution and marcom to optimize the sales of existing products. Provides leadership to Marketing, Sales and Customer Support on positioning products, designing demos, developing training courses. Provides leadership and guidance to a large number of resources across several functional areas or entities. Builds productive working relationships with internal teams, external partners and management staff. Is pro-actively involved in the management of software products through-out the entire product life-cycle and has primary ownership for specific projects.Responsibilities:Product Development: Identifies requirements and potential for new products including market share, and revenue. Develops strategic course of action needed to achieve products business objectives. Works with Design Analysts and development to refine, develop and deliver new products. Works with development to identify technological challenges and new product feasibility. Prepares product concept proposals and life-cycle plans for potential new products. Research: Conducts and analyzes research to understand customer satisfaction needs. Synthesize results of research to determine new product features and market trends. Product Marketing: Responsible for all product marketing issues (product plans, positioning, pricing. Develops & monitors an integrated annual product plan (forecasts, P&L, competition. Establishes & maintains a product pricing structure that optimizes market share and revenue. Provides leadership to resolve product, quality or availability problems. Works with Sales & Marketing to develop an annual sales/marketing plan (programs, PR, . . .). General Product Management Activities: Understands market trends, anticipate competitive threats and make adjustments in product plans. Works with Sales/Marketing to understand customer purchase process and usage patterns. Ensures product distribution is aligned with purchase process. Works with Technical Support to identify support implications and training requirements. Clearly identifies the problem(s) their products solve and sustainable competitive adv. Establishes, builds and develops relationships with business partnersQualifications:BS/BA Degree in Marketing, Economics or Engineering (or related degree) or equivalent experience required; MBA is preferred5+ Years of Product Management Experience in high technology business;Excellent Analytical, Planning and Process Development Skills;Strong Business Judgment
