World Learning, Inc. is providing an opportunity for an Application Developer. This role is responsible for evaluating and meeting the information and computing needs of the various business groups at World Learning. Specifically, this includes analysis and development of information management tools, design and development of information access strategies and delivery of the training, maintenance, and support required to ensure information is effectively used in decision making and operations. Responsibilities: Enhances staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members. Leads efforts with IT and Business Management to determine best solution. Maintains and enhances IT solutions for business areas. Stay current with major trends and information technology approaches and tools. Makes recommendations to business areas to improve business processes. Demonstrates ability to manage junior programmers Works with the Director of Applications to review needs and participates in short range and long range planning for business areas. Demonstrates ability to perform as a project leader of any project from definition to implementation; ability to manage both human and computer resources in a manner that the project is verifiably accurate and on schedule. Responsible for developing in Visualforce, Apex, Java, AJAX, Javascript, and other technologies to build customized solutions that support business requirements and drive key business decisions Seek out ways to utilize SFDC to improve processes and productivity, and make recommendations to support an organization scaling at a rapid pace Partner with SFDC team on best practices including integration and application development, deployment, testing (unit and systems), and iterative refinement Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Management Team or Vice President, IT Skillset: Strong analytical thinking (ability to identify and respond to complex situations). Strong organizational skills and strong goal orientation. Qualifications: Education: BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience. Required Knowledge/Experience: 8 - 9 years' experience in a similar position. Knowledge and experience coding on the Salesforce platform. Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: SQL; Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint, SSIS, SSRS, Coldfusion, Microsoft .Net experience or demonstrated proficiency in object oriented languages. Understanding and proficiency in building web based applications. Ability to demonstrate strong skills in information needs analysis, requirements creation, development and testing in a Windows environment. Experience working with central corporate MIS systems. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent patience, clarity of communications and commitment to team approaches, strong leadership and negotiation skills. Preferred Knowledge/Experience: Familiarity with US Federal Government Security Requirements Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Experience with Cloud Services Relevant experience working in a not-for-profit, educational or international organization. Knowledge and experience with Windows operating systems and Windows-based programming languages.
