Prime Power Technician
Job Description specific focus on proven process and procedure in order to: Troubleshoot operational failures of GE Jenbacher engine driven generators and associated systems to ensure consistent and reliable system optional standards. Review installations and perform system start-up, commissioning and testing. Complete minor and major overhauls of GE Jenbacher engine driven generators through engine repairs, rebuilds, and replacements. Adjust and troubleshoot grid paralleling switchgear associated with the GE Jenbacher engine driven generators. Adjust and troubleshoot gas treatment and conditioning systems associated with the GE Jenbacher engine driven generators. Perform minor and major repairs on GE Jenbacher engine driven generators. Determine appropriate course of action for site issues weighing time, cost and customer satisfaction issues. Accurately determine customer/site requirements. Professionally assist and support customers/sites via remote communication. Organize and implement project plans, minimizing costs and maximizing customer satisfaction. Take lead on large projects, supervising other technicians and working with both vendors and customers. Deliver equipment when appropriate. Education and experience · High school diploma or GED certificate; and training from accredited technical school specializing in diesel or gas engines, or honorable military discharge with a duty assignment related to vehicle or power generation equipment service. · Training and experience on troubleshooting, repairing and rebuilding GE Jenbacher generators is desired. · 2-5 Years experience diagnosing and repairing gas fueled reciprocating engines and cooling systems Skills and abilities · Ability to read schematics. · Ability to diagnose and carry out major repairs, DC circuits 12/24/v · Ability to set up transfer switches, transformers, electrical distribution system, parallel generators and work with ‘twin-packs'. · Ability to tie in to customer's electrical panels. · Experience with and proficiency in PC, · Self-starter, exercises good judgment, is proactive, and demonstrates timely follow-through. · Practiced organizational skills; adherence to timelines and schedules; and attention to detail. · Professional and effective skills of written and verbal communication and concisely document all work and repairs completed in the field · Excellent interpersonal skills. · Maintain necessary legal and technical certifications. · Willingness and ability to manage through collaboration; embrace accountability; share responsibility; and develop employees for personal and professional growth. · Know and follow all safety requirements, including PPE policies · Safely operate a company vehicle, safe driving record Physical Demands * While performing the duties of this position, service technicians are regularly required to: Travel 75% - 90% Use hands/fingers handle, or feel Reach with hands and arms Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally up to 100 lbs.)
