AKQA Senior Motion/Video Designer demonstrates the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams working on multiple projects. Acts as both a hands-on producer as well as a strategic, conceptual leader on a project or client basis. Capable of defining consumers, processes, and ideas from an objective point of view based on research and insight, and can effectively communicate this point of view with senior management on both the agency and client sides.Located on the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC, as part of AKQA you will have access to world-renowned thought leadership from influential authors, athletes, artists and entrepreneurs.ROLE REQUIREMENTSWorks with team members to develop streamlined motion design processes, strategic expansion, and maintenance of technical infrastructure.Proactively pursues opportunities to improve the strategy to better address client and user objectives. Explores emergent technologies and methodologies to help produce cutting-edge creative executions and department workflow efficiencies.Takes personal responsibility for on-time deliverables. Actively educates internal groups about motion design and video production while providing a contribution to the development of client relationships. Is an advocate on behalf of "motion design within the agency at large.Assists and guides other Motion Designers in their professional development; fosters innovation in the Motion Design team.Takes responsibility for the creation of award entries and case studies of key projects, ensuring they are distributed across the business to relevant people (eg, client team, creative directors). Shows an understanding of the jury environment for each award scheme and appropriately uses insight into the judging process. QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICSA reel/portfolio of commercial work demonstrating an exceptional design and narrative aesthetic produced for client-oriented projectsExpert in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Photoshop and additional video editing tools. A basic understanding of alternate motion design/post-production software and systemsMastery of a wide range of video production tools and techniques and expert knowledge of post-production processesExperience leading large motion design projects, including concepts, resource scoping, client interaction, and final executionProven ability to collaborate with internal departments and interface effectively with clientsExperience directing the work of outside vendors such as photographers, illustrators, and sound designers
