Payroll Manager Location : Virginia Corporate Headquarters, Sterling VA US Job Description :SCOPE: The Payroll Manager maintains the integrity of the payroll system, checks the accuracy of pay computations, checks timesheets, processes weekly in-house payroll, resolves payroll issues, and runs payroll reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually. Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 (based on experience) QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar discipline 4+ years of experience processing in-house payroll Experience processing garnishments, deductions, wire transfers, direct deposit activities, deduction thresholds Knowledge of multi-state filing procedures Subject matter expert on the principles, practices, and procedures of payroll processing, tax withholding, deduction codes, W-2 processing, differential pay, certified payrolls, preparing and filing quarterly 941, FUTA, SUTA reports Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to timing of entries and actions effecting accuracy and financial reporting of payroll data Experience with MS Dynamic Great Plains accounting software a plus Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process and manage all payroll functions for a weekly payroll with hours uploads from multiple sources Review and perform quality control activities relative to processing exemption changes, insurance premiums, savings deductions, title changes, department/division/manager changes Compile payroll data, process employee changes, perform data entry, manage leave accrual data, and audit the accuracy of payroll information and data Resolve payroll disputes; identify pay adjustments and manual check processing, and perform wage calculations and prorating for special payments Process and manage garnishments Assist with quarterly and year-end processing and reconciliation and participate in the completion of outside party payroll tax and accounting audits Ensure the accuracy of payroll through balancing and auditing prior to submission and complete special projects as assigned Remain apprised of developments in the payroll field to ensure currency Manage SUTA accounts for all multiple states File payments to Social Security, FSA and HSA accounts, and State & federal tax agencies Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential Evaluate and recommend system changes for continuous process improvement Work with Human Resources and Accounting departments to ensure timely and accurate processing activities Category : Accounting/Finance Education : Bachelor's Degree Job Type : Full Time
