The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is a CALEA nationally-accredited, federal law enforcement agency. The USCP safeguards the Congress, its legislative processes, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and facilities from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

This position is located in the Accounting Division of the Office of Financial Management (OFM). OFM is responsible for planning and directing the financial activities of the USCP, to include budget development and execution, all procurement and purchasing activities, and all activities related to accounts payable and accounting. The Accounting Division, specifically, is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of the financial accounting operations and reporting activities of the USCP.

  • This position is open to U.S. Capitol Police employees only.

  • Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (CP-10/GS-12) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

    • Gather, organize, analyze, and reconcile financial data;
    • Evaluate complex accounting systems and identify trends and patterns in account activity;
    • Provide expert advice and guidance to Offices and Bureaus in administering operating budgets;
    • Compile information and analyze data;
    • Develop solutions and recommendations for improvements in financial control;
    • Apply laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the government-wide travel card program to provide advice and assistance on problems and issues;
