JOB SUMMARY:

About the Agency

This position is located in the Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Compliance Policy (OCIP), DAS for Financial Institutions and Counselor to the Secretary, Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, Under Secretary, Domestic Finance, Departmental Offices, Department of the Treasury. The employee provides leadership and expert cyber security technical advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the financial services sector in support of the Department’s role as the lead sector under applicable Presidential Directives.

    For the GS-13:
    You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
    -Identifying cybersecurity threats; AND
    -Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
    -Interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND -Working on IT related projects; AND
    -Developing risk assessment criteria to be used for identifying cyber security threats.


    For the GS-12:
    You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
    -Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
    -Interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND
    -Working on IT related projects; AND
    -Assisting with the development of risk assessment criteria to be used for identifying cyber security threats.

    For the GS-11:
    You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
    -Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
    -Interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND - Assisting with the development of risk assessment criteria to be used for identifying cyber security threats.
    OR
    -Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

    For the GS-9
    You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
    -Researching IT security technology, policy and federal mandates; AND
    -Assisting with vulnerability assessments of computer networks and information systems.
    OR
    -Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree

    In addition to meeting specialized experience, for all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below:

    • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
