JOB SUMMARY:

About the Agency

The purpose of this position is to support the Treasury Department’s role as the Sector Specific Agency for Financial Services, under Presidential Policy Directive 21, to strengthen the security and resilience of its critical infrastructure against both physical and cyber threats. This position is located in the Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Compliance Policy (OCIP), DAS Financial Institutions-Policy, Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, Under Secretary, Domestic Finance, Departmental Offices, Department of the Treasury, reporting to the OCIP Director or one of his/her Deputies.

    Specialized Experience for the GS-15 level:

    To be qualified for this position at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:

    -Analyzing cybersecurity threats; AND
    -Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
    -Developing and interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND
    -Leading IT related projects; AND
    -Performing risk assessments to develop plans to reduce cyber security threats and vulnerability.

    Specialized Experience for the GS-14 level:

    To be qualified for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:

    -Identifying cybersecurity threats; AND
    -Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
    -Interpreting and making recommendations on cybersecurity policy; AND
    -Leading IT related projects; AND
    -Performing risk assessments to assist with the development of plans to reduce cyber security threats and vulnerability.

    In addition to meeting specialized experience, for all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.

    Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
