    A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
    or

    B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.  Experience must be reflected in your resume.
    Specialized experience required for this position is: 

  • Experience in all nuclear monitoring and forensics phenomenologies, technologies, and systems including radionuclide, seismic, hydroacoustic, infrasound collections and monitoring systems, and associated in-situ analyses. 
  • Experience leading and managing research programs and associated budget planning and execution in order to apply new technologies to problems not resolvable through conventional methods, especially those that are specifically relevant to CTBT nuclear test monitoring technologies and techniques.

    All applicants must meet qualifications and eligibility criteria by the closing date of the announcement.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

    Overtime/compensatory time is limited to periods of heightened activity involving agency response to significant events, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues, or working short suspense tasks. Compensatory time will be given for instances where, with prior supervisory approval, the incumbent is required to work beyond normal duty schedule.

    This is an Acquisition Position in the Systems Planning Research, Development Engineering – Systems Engineering Career field.  Required to become certified, Level II within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements Waiver is approved to extend the 24 months.  Additional certifications in Program Management are highly desired. Must meet requirements for membership in the DoD Acquisition Corps. The selectee for this position will be required to sign a written agreement to remain in this critical acquisition position for a minimum of 3 years.

    Occasional out-of-area travel within the United States and overseas will be required to attend professional conferences and symposia, as well as to interact with performers and users, oversee tests and field demonstrations, and to review contractor performance.

    Appointment is subject to completion of a 2 year probationary period.
