JOB SUMMARY:

About the Agency

The Budget and Finance Division is responsible for all financial aspects of the District of Columbia Courts and the duties of the Fiscal Officer outlined in Title 11, Section 1723(a)(2) of the D.C. Code.

This position is in the Defender Services Branch of the Budget and Finance Division. The Defender Services Programs Specialist coordinates the timely, accurate review, and payment of claims for services under the Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) program, te Criminal Justice Act (CJA) program, and the Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Program.

The incumbent should be an energetic, enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • A background check and security investigation.
  • Probationary period of one year.
  • A high school diploma plus seven (7) years of demonstrated work experience in statistical methods and procedures.

    Education Substitution:

    Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field, plus five (5) years of demonstrated experience in statistical methods and procedures.

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field, plus three (3) years of demonstrated experience in statistical methods and procedures.

    To qualify based on education, upload copy of your college transcript or degree. The transcript must show the name of the college or university, your name, a list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.

    Foreign Education: Education completed outside the United States must have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials, commonly called a credential evaluation service or education to meet the above requirements.
