Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 

**CI Poly acceptable for exceptional candidate** Windows 7, Active Directory 2003/2008; Exchange server design; Design experience required; troubleshooting; Linux; Works with Developers/Engineers and needs to be able to troubleshoot applications; Big Data Movement/Storage; VMWare/VI Experience; Blade Servers; 10% CONUS Travel required

 

1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering. 2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis. 3. Plans upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

 4. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

 5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

 6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

 8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

 10. May serve as a technical team or task lead.

 11. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 13. Participates in special projects as required.

Education 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 2. Masters Degree preferred.

Qualifications 10-15 years of related systems engineering experience.

  Windows Experience: * Ability to administer Windows computers that are standalone and domain attached.* Perform Active Directory design, deployment, and administration* Ability to utilize group policy to administer and deliver configuration changes, software deployments, etc. to objects controlled by Active Directory.* Ability to deploy and maintain a Certificate Authority as well as troubleshoot software and equipment interactions with a CA.* Ability to lock a machine's network capability using host based info-security.Linux experience: * Ability to manage Linux servers via command line using bash.* Ability to lock a machine's network capability using host based info-security.* Ability to install and configure open source software applications* Experience with CentOS/Red HatApplication/product integration into a system* Ability to take CoTS products, evaluate, and provide proper engineering designs, deployment plans, transition steps, etc. to deliver a solution.* Define performance requirements for products.Engineering standard practices:* Ability to produce standard engineering process documents (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing)* Proven ability to use critical thinking and complex problem solving skills* Self-starter capable of working in a team and with minimal oversight* Ability to explain procedures and complex technical information to peers and non-technical customers.Scripting:* Able to write short scripts to automate simple tasks in one or more of the following languages: BAT/Powershell, BAS, Javascript, PHP, Python, RubyVirtualization experience with VMWare:* Ability to build a scaling vCenter environment, define roles for a secure vCenter implementation, and implement virtual capabilities across multiple data centers.
