The candidate will be deeply exposed to various technologies and solutions that provide SMS with remote support monitoring solutions for data processing equipment that is maintained and located at customer sites around the world. The entry level software engineer will work with senior software engineers; technical support specialists and other subject matter experts to identify challenges presented by different machine platforms and develop solutions in a hands on manner through the complete product development life cycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Understand software architecture involved with developing programs in different operating system platforms (predominately Windows and Linux) Collaborate with team members to develop cost effective and innovative solutions Must be able to understand and analyze project requirements and translate into specifications Thorough understanding of the importance of documentation at each level of the development process, including requirements, design, coding, testing and maintenance Providing quality assurance testing of bug fixes, new releases and new modules as needed Analyze program error messages and performance indicators to locate code problems and then correcting errors by recoding Understanding of Ethernet networking technologies and protocolsOther Duties Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks Protect SMS operations by keeping information confidential Minimum Qualifications Degree in computer science or related field Proficient with 'C' programming language(s) (C / C++ / C#) Proficient with Microsoft Visual Studio and VB.NET and C# programming languages Knowledgeable of multiple operating system platforms (Windows and Debian Linux preferred) Familiarity with MySQL or MS SQL database programs Proficient with Web services and applications (HTML, TCP/IP, JavaScript, CSS, ASP.NET, IIS) Ability to work well both individually and as a productive team member Excellent working knowledge of diagnostic tools and troubleshooting skills Ability to adjust to changing priorities in a fast paced environment Excellent communication, interpersonal, technical and organizational skillsSystems Maintenance Services is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action employer and is subject to federal regulations pertaining to employment.
