BOILER PLANT OPERATOR
The selectee for this position will serve as a Boiler Plant Operator in the Public Works Department, Utilities Energy Management Branch of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the duties of a Boiler Plant Operator without more than normal supervision such as: 1) operating semi-automatic gas/oil fired high pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment (e.g., turbine and electric feed water and fuel pumps, electric driven forced draft fans, air compressors, water softening, and de-aerating equipment); 2) adjusting fuel feed controls; and 3) changing from gas to oil.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Work requires working on various shifts.
Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.
Working Conditions: Majority of work is performed indoors; however, employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures, smoke, dirt, noise, unpleasant odors, toxic fumes, soot, toxic dust, water, fuel oil, chemicals and all types of weather conditions. Work may result in cuts, bruises, or burns from steam, heat, chemicals or machinery. Exposed to eye injuries and frostbite from escaping refrigerants.
