GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:  You MUST have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).  In addition, at the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application, of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.  On-line information is allowed as long as it shows that you are in "active" status.

IMPORTANT: You MUST provide the following supporting documentation, at the time of application, to verify current bar membership: Copy of current Bar Membership/Card, Letter from the Bar or Print out from the Bar website showing active and in good standing. Also, if you have been a bar member for less than five years, a copy of your final law school transcript.

Failure to submit all of the proper documentation will result in removal of your application from consideration.

Qualifications Required at GS-14 or GS-15 Level.

Assignments require the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and active (or equivalent) membership, in good standing, in the bar of the highest court of a state, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. In addition, the attorney shall have professional legal experience in excess of three years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Level of Supervision.

Attorneys performing duties in GS-15 positions are expected to perform with substantial independence, even when working on the most complex or difficult matters.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  In lieu of OPM Qualification Standards, AFI 51-107, Employment of Civilian Attorneys, applies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 

GS-14:

1. Expertise in government contract law covering the entire acquisition life-cycle.

2. Knowledge of acquisition laws, policy, regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Ability to plan, organize, motivate and direct the functions of influential legal teams, such as a bid protest review red team.

4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

5. Legal research skills using electronic media.

6. Ability to effectively build relationships by strategizing courses of actions to meet clients'

needs.

GS-15:

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:  Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.   The attorney must maintain such bar membership in at least one jurisdiction during the entire course of employment with the Air Force.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1.  Incumbent must be currently licensed, active and in good standing as an attorney in a state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Incumbent must be active and in good standing with his or her bar.

2.  Incumbent is required to submit an initial and annual OGE 450 (Financial Disclosure) in accordance with the Joint Ethics Regulation.

3.  Overtime may be required.

4.  Temporary duty travel may be required.

5.  Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET security clearance.

6.  Selectees are required to perform pre-employment drug screening.

7.  This is a testing designated position- selectee will be subject to random drug testing.
