The Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Economics is seeking highly motivated individuals to work in either the Antitrust or Consumer Protection Divisions at their headquarters office in Washington, D.C. Selected candidates assist the economists by analyzing data for law enforcement investigations and policy studies. The position presents real opportunities for significant responsibility and hands-on experience. Incumbents often take advantage of training programs and use their experience as a staging ground for stimulating careers or further education in related fields.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet one of the following basic requirements: A. Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position being filled, e.g., economics, public administration, political science, sociology, policy analysis/policy studies, industrial affairs, public health, international affairs, government, econometrics, mathematics, statistics, finance, marketing, business law, or other related field; OR, B. Combination of education and experience that provided the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR, C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to the basic eligibility requirement:
At the GS-11 level: You MUST possess 1 year of graduate level education and have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service, which is in or directly related to the position being filled and has provided you with the knowledge,skills and ability to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is work performing routine data analysis and presenting findings in graphs, tables, charts, spreadsheets, and other forms; OR, A four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with superior academic achievement (S.A.A.). SSA is based on 1) having graduated at the upper third of your graduating class; 2) membership in a national honor society, excluding a freshman honor society; or 3) having graduated with a grade-point average of at least 3.0 out of a 4.0 (or its equivalent) for all courses completed at time of application as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
Note: To qualify based on education, you MUST submit a copy of transcript or list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. You can receive credit for education received outside the United States if you provide evidence that is comparable to an U.S. Department of Education accredited educational institution in the United States when you apply. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to an U.S. Department of Education accredit able institution in the United States. It is YOUR responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Experience requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
