Associate Director, Graduate Operations
The George Mason University Office of Admissions invites applications for the Associate Director of Graduate Operations. Responsibilities: The Associate Director is a key member of the Operations staff, and serves as the designated day-to-day leader in operations for graduate admissions. The incumbent must be at the forefront of all processes to identify, delegate and streamline daily priorities and responsibilities with regard to graduate application processing. This position assists the Director with special projects, and provides training and guidance to the Graduate Admissions Specialists.
Duties: * Provide high-level expertise and knowledge about graduate admissions processing, international student issues, domicile issues, and university policies to make autonomous decisions in the day-to-day operations of graduate admissions; * Provide all operational reporting data; * Serve as the primary point of escalation for the Graduate Admissions Liaisons for issues related to operations; * Manage Admissions Specialists; * Serve as an embedded operational user who can focus on quality assessment in day-to-day operations; and * Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: * Masters degree or equivalent is required; * Must have demonstrated admissions experience (three to five years is preferred), preferably in graduate admissions; * Must have demonstrated supervisory experience (three to five years is preferred); * Self-starter and able to work independently; * Outstanding communication skills; * Highly organized with great attention to detail; * Ability to make decisive, informed decisions in fast-paced, high-volume office; * Strong analytical skills with proven, effective application of those ideas into procedure; and * Flexibility and willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours and extended days with the ability to juggle competing priorities effectively.
