Senior Research Analyst

The George Mason University Office of Institutional Research and Assessment is seeking a Senior Research Analyst. The primary mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) is to provide data and analysis for strategic planning, institutional research and effectiveness. In addition, OIRA serves as the primary source of official data for state, federal, and other external agencies.

Responsibilities: * Independently manage day-to-day administration of data; and perform moderately complex analysis, forecasting, and modeling; * Assist in the development and testing of institutional analytics data model focusing on faculty activity and productivity, competitive positioning, unit cost and student success; while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data used for reporting, planning, and institutional effectiveness activities; * Identify and anticipate data and information reporting needs of the university’s schools, colleges, departments, and senior administrators; and * Take a proactive role in a variety of advanced institutional research projects, including, but not limited to: survey research, competitive positioning, strategic resource allocation, data warehouse development, business intelligence, and dashboard development.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in quantitative disciplines such as business administration, public policy, statistics, educational research, or a related discipline, with significantly demonstrated professional experience in an institutional research-related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Experience in using SAS (preferred), SPSS, or other comparable statistical analysis program for analysis and decision support; * Evidence of independent and creative thinking and writing on research and statistical problems; * Ability to work with data from multiple electronic sources; * Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning program such as PeopleSoft, SAP, or Ellucian Banner; * Knowledge of business intelligence and analytics tools such as SAS Visual Analytics/Statistics, SAS Enterprise Guide/Enterprise Miner, Tableau, Cognos, or Microstrategy; and * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications: * Master’s degree; and * SAS certification is desirable.
