  • The Net Admin and Adept Staff will perform Tier 2 troubleshooting functions to remotely restore services and escalate higher level incidents to appropriate Tier 3 and Tier 4 organizations when restoration is not possible.
  • Performs Command Line Interface syntax on routers/switches/encryption/firewall devices within a multi-vendor environment.
  • Correlates and investigates incidents to identify a root-cause to service interruptions and performs corrective actions to restore service, as well as identifies network performance issues across the enterprise.
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

 Emphasis on Windows, Cisco and Juniper. Red Hat Linux and/or HP Open View a big plus. Role/Responsiblities:
    Investigate Network Management System (NMS) Simple Network Management (SNMP) trap data and Syslog messages, troubleshoot escalated incidents, document findings, remotely restore services, recommend fix actions, and dispatch maintenance to appropriate organizations if remote restoration is not possible.Investigate network performance threshold events as well as security relevant alarms to proactively protect and preserve the functionality of the enterprise infrastructure.Perform Traffic Engineering (TE) by intelligently manipulating metrics to temporarily alt-route traffic in the event of an incident or service interruption.Communicate information required to Tier 4 vendors for Technical Assistance Cases (TACs), provide temporary work around solutions when feasible and work with Tier 3 to provide permanent fix actions for ongoing issues.Perform Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for backup and restoral of devices as needed.Conduct system analysis and supports development to keep current with changing technologies.

Privileged Users are subject to a zero tolerance policy for security violations. Must possess appropriate current DoD Information Assurance (IA) Certification to be considered for employment, either CompTIA Security+ OR CCNA-Security. CompTIA Security+ is the preferred certification. Must attain the required DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) Certification within six (6) months of Hire Date.
