About the Agency

This position is located in the Clerical Staffing Program (CSP) in the Operations and Strategic Programs Division (OSPD) in the Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM). The incumbent of this position will provide temporary administrative and clerical support to a variety of offices within the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

    To qualify for the ZS-II position, applicants must meet one of the following:

    1. Six months of progressively responsible clerical, office or other work experience that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform Administrative Support Clerk duties, such as those describe in the duties section of this announcement;


    2. One full-year of post high school education in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university;


    3. An equivalent combination of experience and/or post-high school education

    To qualify for the ZS-III position, applicants must meet one of the following:

    1. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 (ZS-II for NIST) - specialized experience is defined as experience utilizing administrative/clerical skill and automated systems to process time and attendance, make travel and conference arrangements, manage multiple calendars, review correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy, respond to non-technical correspondence, maintain an office filing system, compile and enter information into and retrieve information from various automated programs


    2. 4 years of education above high school


    3. An equivalent combination of experience and/or post-high school education

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
