Research Assistant, Department of Medicine - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Research Assistant performs data entry and cleaning for the HIV Transmission & Phylogenetic studies, and prepares weekly data reports and assist the Principal Investigator and co-investigators as needed.   Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists Principal Investigator and co-investigators with abstract preparation and presentations.
  • Assists Investigators with abstract preparation and presentations, and with manuscript preparation.
  • Performs data extraction from electronic medical records.
  • Redacts personal health information from external medical record for research.
  • Sends request for clinical data to outside medical facilities.
  • Sends data inquiries based on initial analytics.
  • Transports research samples between clinic and laboratory sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least years of administrative and research support experience
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet searches, and file maintenance
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work effectively under pressure, function autonomously, and collaborate successfully with physicians, health team members, sponsors, and research patients.
  • Sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work
