Cultural Advisor / Linguist Manager / Translator
Translates and interprets foreign language(s) into English. Advises and works directly with the S-2. Collaborates with the Civil Affairs Officer (CJ9), providing cultural advice, general linguist support and recommendations for military operations. Maintains continued expertise on a wide variety of local Afghan issues, including governance, religion, tribal dynamics, socio-economic conditions, political systems, culture, and social issues. Provides foreign language support services, including transcription and translation/interpretation from English to Dari/Pashtu and vice versa, and effectively advises the Task Force Commander and other designated representatives. Responsible for drawing a taskera identification badge and escorting linguists to Security/Vetting/Screening and counterintelligence appointments. 1. Translates written and oral communications in Dari/Pashtu into English, and vice versa. 2. Serves as an interpreter between English speakers and non-English speakers. 3. Prepares related reports and documentation. 4. Performs related administrative duties. 5. Participates in special projects as required. Education Associates Degree in a related discipline.Bachelors Degree preferred. Qualifications 3-5 years of directly related experience as a translator and/or interpreter. a. Citizen of the United States.b. Fluent in English, Pashtu, and Dari.
