Job Duties: Sells commercial loan deposit and loan products and servicesto prospective clients in Apple's market area to achieve credit union goals andobjectives. Seeks eligible loan prospects based on Apple's lending policies andstrategic goals. Responsible formanaging the relationship with existing members in loan officer portfolio andnew prospects and works with business service staff employees to close theselling process and to maintain the relationship account. The position is designed as a business costcenter with an individual profit and loss statement. Entrepreneurial attitude and skills required.Participate in the strategic planning and development of the credit union'scommercial lending and business services policies, procedures, and goals. Responsibilities: Plan and manage a business loanportfolio/territory according to an agreed market strategy and within AppleBusiness Services underwriting guidelines. Have a working knowledge of NCUA Part 723 Business LendingRegulations. Develop strategicrelationships with local associations, businesses and partners.Interviews present and potentialmembers applying for commercial loans and deposit accounts, by obtaining astrong understanding of their needs, desires and abilities and thenrecommending a solution.Screens potential applicants/membersto determine eligibility for membership and business services. Runs reports onvarious databases to determine creditworthiness and collateral values. Preparesand presents a narrative background of the borrower and guarantors to thecredit underwriter to be incorporated in the credit memo. Obtains a completeinformation package for a business loan application and or deposit account.Pre-qualifies and performs market and credit analysis on prospectiverelationships prior to submitting to underwriting. Analyzes applicant financialstatus, credit, and debt coverage ratio's to determine the feasibility ofgranting the loan as per Apple underwriting guidelines. Responsible for proper business account filedocumentation and note histories.Analyzes and grades the financialrisk to the credit union of all current and on-going commercial loans in theportfolio. Evaluates and recommends anaction plan for each case. Help collect past due loans in your portfolio.Meets with member-borrowers asneeded to develop and/or execute strategies for the resolution of adverselyrated credits.Maintains up to date knowledge ofcompetitor's rates and terms and other trends relating to commerciallending. Help develop products, ratesand terms that reflect the marketplace.Negotiate terms established byApple's loan committee and follow the sales process from negotiation to close.Responsible for a complete credit and collateral file.Maintains complete credit andcollateral files with up to date commentary with minimal exceptions. Plans and prepares presentations,public speaking to various economic development groups. Be involved in theNorthern Virginia Community through civic activity, professional associationsand net-working events. Represent AppleFCU in business networking events in various capacities ie speaker,vendor-booths, judging business plans for local high schools etc.Maintains the highest ethics inoriginating and closing loans to prevent lender liability issues.Performs other duties as assigned bythe AVP of Commercial Services.Qualifications-all required unless otherwisenoted: BA or BS degree in Communications, Government, Business Administration, or Public Relations. Minimum eight to ten years commercial lending experience. Experience in commercial loan underwriting and structuring, loan documentation and business depository accounts. Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact effectively in group and individual situations at educational or credit union functions/events. Strong research and analytical skills. PC proficient, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, fax, copier, telephone, postage machine, etc. Ability to lift 25 pounds if necessary.
