JOBDESCRIPTION Job Title Staff Accountant Classification Exempt SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE Assists finance department in creating accurate and timely financialrecords for the organization; is the central coordinating point for processingvendor invoices and ensures the accurate and timely payment ofsubcontractor, consultant and other vendor invoices to maintain positiverelationships with vendors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Job Requirements) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individualswith disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Calculation and recording of monthly depreciation, pre-paids andaccruals 2. Assure that all regular monthly invoices for fringe expenses, rents,interest and capital lease costs have been entered in the month in which thecosts were incurred 3. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts 4. Provide explanation for large fluctuations in revenue or expenseaccounts between current month and previous month along with assistance fromAssistant Controller 5. Month-end close in accounting system 6. Generate monthly financial statements 7. Generate monthly statements of indirect expenses 8. Assist CFO/Assistant Controller in preparation of documents andback-up for financial statement audit 9. Prepare journal entries to record items in general ledger as needed 10. Enter adjustments to current employee set up 11. Make necessary adjustments for terminated employees 12. Import timesheets from T&E into GCSP 13. Make adjustments to T&E and GCSP as necessary to correct errorsand warnings 14. Post labor in GCSP 15. Transmit payroll data to ADP 16. Review reports from ADP to assure that amounts to post to payroll areaccurate 17. Prepare journal entry to post payroll, labor and payroll taxes ingeneral ledger 18. Submit JE to Assistant Controller for review 19. Post JE in accounting system 20. Review paychecks 21. Compute and remit 401(k) payment online 22. Process final pay checks in accordance with state law 23. Assist in analysis of current payroll service COMPETENCIES Technical Proficiency: Understanding of US GAAP and application of knowledge.Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base andproficiencies as related to the accounting profession. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and proceduremanuals SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY N/A WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional office environment. Thisrole routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee isregularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however,some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, openfiling cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position. Daysand hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with aone-hour lunch break. This position may require long hours and weekend work. TRAVEL None REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE BS in Accounting 0-1 year minimumexperience required. Understanding of US GAAP andapplication of knowledge. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CPA or CPA in progress preferred Experience with Deltek GCS and Time and Expense knowledge,GCS Premier.
