Works as part of the Urban Search and Rescue team to provide the primary functions of assisting the logistics manager in maintaining the equipment cache and its warehouse in a constant state of optimal readiness; and overseeing daily warehouse operations in the absence of the logistics manager. Other duties include:
  • Handles the supply and equipment aspect of the Urban Search and Rescue section.
  • Assists with maintenance of all required tools and equipment and maintains required documentation.
  • Repairs cache equipment where possible or assures repair is handled by qualified vendor.
  • Maintains required documentation.
  • Assists the logistics manager administratively in the maintenance of tool, equipment and supply database.
  • Maintains all assigned vehicles and warehouse equipment.
  • Assists the logistics manager with the completion of reports.
  • Assists the logistics manager in technical review of all incoming/outgoing equipment and supplies to assure accountability of all items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
NOTE:
Unscheduled overtime may be required to complete mission critical tasks when USAR team is activated or due to other unforeseen events. This position reports to the USAR Warehouse, 14725 Flint Lee Road, Chantilly, VA 20151. Employment Standards

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education, plus four years of inventory, purchasing, accounts payable or material storage operations experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must be able to obtain Forklift Safety Training Certificate within six months of hire date.
CDL-A required within one year of employment.
Possession of a valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certain positions within this class may be subject to criminal background checks as a condition of hiring as determined by the department head. An applicant or employee may be required to submit a request for a criminal background check to the appropriate agency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting, bending, and stooping. Ability to lift moderate to heavy items ( such as equipment, engines, tools, etc.) between 50 and 70 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Access and/or inventory management systems.
  • Experience in warehousing and/or supply chain management.
  • Experience in inventory management.
  • Experience with small engine repair.
  • Experience instructing personnel.
