Supervises nine (9) staff including seven (7) Social Services Specialists in the Fairfax Adult Services Unit within the Department of Family Services' Adult and Aging Division. The Adult Services Unit conducts mandatory pre-admission screenings and home based care assessments; assists clients and families with care planning and provides care management services. Supervises staff who provide liaison services with Lincolnia and Birmingham Green, and who provide an adult foster care program. Responsible for oversight of pre-admission screenings (including data) for the division and for coordination of screenings with the health department, DFS's Long Term Care Unit, and Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS). Provides training in pre-admission screenings and does public education. Clients are older adults and adults with disabilities. Ensures best social work practice in client assessments and care coordination. Through data collection and supervision, ensures that day-to-day services of the team are provided to the public in a timely, accurate, courteous, and effective manner and in compliance with laws and policies. Builds partnerships within and outside DFS to enhance service delivery; and serves on internal and external boards and committees. This position works under the supervision by the Adult and Aging Division Director.Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree; plus four years of increasingly responsible, directly-related professional experience in the social services or human services field. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of required experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A master's degree in social work (MSW); experience or understanding of Adult Services' responsibilities. Demonstrated professional work experience with older adults. Progressive work experience in social work leadership roles.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.
Ability to get to meetings in buildings outside of headquarters.
Ability to make verbal presentations to agency personnel and to the public.
Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
