We seek a Manager to promote member group purchasing in the  DC/DE/MD/VA area. The Manager is responsible for enrolling LeadingAge members and others in the group purchasing program and increasing the volume of purchasing flowing through Value First. The Manager will actively engage members, coordinate sales and marketing efforts for Value First ( and ensure that members have their purchasing-related needs met in a timely fashion.

This position will report to the SVP of Programs & Membership for LeadingAge in Washington, DC.   Value First, Inc. is a group purchasing organization designed for aging services providers who seek expanded choice, intelligent solutions and significant savings. It offers collective buying power and contracts negotiated specifically for LeadingAge members whose mission is better care and better outcomes for older adults. Value First is owned by LeadingAge and 24 LeadingAge partners that operate in a contractual arrangement in partnership with a group purchasing company.

In general the manager will actively solicit members to participate in group purchasing programs; oversee the development of cost studies for prospective customers; manage vendor relations; develop and implement marketing and sales strategies; and, engage in required travel (approximately 60%) to assist members with their group purchasing needs.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of program management experience in business development, sales or group purchasing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must have prior experience developing and implementing marketing and sales plans and making sound and independent business decisions.

Other requirements include the proven ability to achieve targeted results, communicate effectively with vendors, association members, board members and co-workers; the demonstrated ability to make cold calls and requisite follow-up; the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Significant computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required as well as familiarity with Salesforce/Nimble AMS.  The ability to work independently combined with the effective willingness to work as a collaborative team player; strong attention to detail; customer service; organization; and excellent spelling and grammar skills is essential. Ability to travel overnight to meetings and conferences, as needed.
