Research Assistant, Office of the President
The American Enterprise Institute seeks a full-time Research Assistant to support the creative and academic work of AEI’s president, Arthur Brooks.
As AEI’s chief executive, Dr. Brooks maintains a high profile as a scholar and public intellectual. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Dr. Brooks and the small team that assists him with research, writing, and strategy across all facets of his work.
Working closely with the Director of the Office of the President, this Research Assistant will contribute fact-finding, research, writing, and operational support to a wide array of high-profile initiatives. Projects will include long-term initiatives (such as bestselling books, featured essays, and peer-reviewed academic journal articles), fast-paced communications products (such as frequent op-eds, newsletters, and daily social media), and experimental new endeavors.
The Research Assistant will bring strong qualitative and quantitative skills and interdisciplinary interests to bear on fast-moving policy topics and deep academic questions alike. Subjects will range from politics, economics, and policy to behavioral science, social psychology, history, and philosophy. He or she will fulfill specific research requests in these fields with speed and precision, take ownership of inquiries into unfamiliar topics, and assist with efforts to publicize and popularize Dr. Brooks’ findings and conclusions.
The ideal candidate will combine a passion for big ideas with meticulous attention to detail, and will combine deep intellectual curiosity with the desire to create tangible impact. He or she will possess excellent social science research skills, superior writing ability, and experience with data analysis using STATA, SAS, or similar tools.
