Since 1971, Close Up has served more than 850,000 students and teachers across the country on its program. The Close Up Foundation is seeking to build a robust alumni network and create new opportunities for alumni to engage with the Foundation. Alumni Coordinator will be responsible for engaging with alumni, maintaining the database, and communications. The Alumni Coordinator will work across departments to assists in developing cultivation and activation strategies based on geographic location, professional and political connects, or individual defined interests. Interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, 1 to 2 years of work experience, strong organizational and communication skills, be willing to travel, demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter and be willing to work non-traditional hours. Alumni of Close Up’s student program is strongly preferred but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as needed.
- Manage and organize Close Up’s alumni database and correspondence;
- Develop alumni cultivation and activation strategies;
- Organize, support and attend alumni events in Washington DC and in local communities through the United States;
- Assist in the development of Close Up’s alumni newsletter;
- Attend Close Up programs to recruit Close Up alumni in the Washington DC area to volunteer for both student and teacher programs;
- Support Close Up teacher and student programs as needed; and
- Support the Close Up Community Relations team with locally based fundraising efforts.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; with 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in alumni development and/or program management a plus. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to manage and work on several projects and tasks simultaneously, and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Must be flexible and have the ability to work both independently and with a team. Advanced computer skills needed. Microsoft Office skills a must and professional use of social media sites is a plus.
