Job Description:
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a full-time Team Coordinator of Patient Care Services to work 40 hours a week in our Cardiac Care Unit.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is a 276-bed acute care facility that has a long history of commitment to the city, offering specialized, tertiary services. It is the region's only Level III Trauma Center and home to the Sentara Heart Center. We offer many advanced clinical services. The hospital specializes in orthopedics, neurosurgery, thoracic and colorectal surgery and sleep disorders. Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is one of the region's accredited stroke centers.

Unit Information:
The cardiac care unit (CCU) is a 12-bed unit, providing both intermediate and critical care for cardiac patients. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for intermediate care and 1:2 for critical care. Our patient population includes those who have had open heart surgery, acute MI, Heart Failure, and cardiac intervention, including those who may need ventilator or IABP assistance. We are a 24 hours/7 days a week unit that offers 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts. Our unit is open to taking experienced and new graduate nurses. This unit will participate in a Nurse Residency program for new graduate nurses.

Position shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team. Utilizes effective communication/ interpersonal skills and is able to adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.
