About the Agency

The District of Columbia Courts consist of the Court of Appeals, the Superior Court, and the Court System. DC Courts constitutes the Judicial Branch of the District of Columbia Government, and is separate and distinct from the Executive and Legislative Branches.

This is an unpaid internship in the Domestic Relations Branch of Family Court in the Superior Court of District of Columbia. The Branch manages all cases concerning divorce, legal separation, annulments, custody, visitation, adoption, termination of parental rights, relinquishment, standby guardianship, and marriage.

Interns in this branch will rotate training within the three offices (Domestic Relations, Adoptions- a highly secured environment- and Marriage Bureau). This position is open for the summer semester starting in late May 2017.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree - seeking student.
  • Must have a GPA or 3.0 or better.
  • The internship position is unpaid.
  • U.S.Citizens or individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residency or authorized by Immigration and Naturalization Service to intern in the U.S. Applicant must be in his or her third or fourth year of undergraduate program or in a graduate or law school program. The student must be in good standing at his or her university with a GPA of 3.0 or better
