Data Analytics Manager, Graduate Career Center - Walsh School of Foreign Service

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. At Georgetown's Washington, D.C., and Qatar campuses, SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit values of service.  The SFS Graduate Career Center(GCC) serves students and alumni from eight SFS graduate programs as well as four programs from the Government Department, providing individual career advising, targeted job search skills workshops, a regular Career Bulletin, access to targeted employers through information/industry sessions and site visits and access to WalshWorks, a database featuring thousands of job and internship postings.

The Data Analytics Manager, a key member of the SFS Graduate Career Center (GCC), contributes technical advice and analytical and reporting expertise to the delivery of value-added, client-focused career management services for more than 900 SFS graduate students in the eight graduate programs, as well as the Department of Government, and more than 4,000 alumni.  S/he serves as the primary data expert on the SFS Dean's Office team, as well as a key partner on the development and implementation of an SFS alumni and stakeholder database; oversees the administration of the GCC internal data platforms, and ensures data integrity, confidentiality, data and user support; and ensures system linkages to the internal platforms in the eight graduate programs in SFS, BSFS, and the Centennial team.  Reporting to the GCC Director, the Data Analytics Manager has duties that include but are not limited to:

Data Integration and Analytics

  • Manages the collection, analysis, and dissemination of employment, internship, and GCC usage statistics across the GSFS for the GCC, Office of the Dean, website publication, APSIA, strategic planning, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Serves as data expert voice to SFS programs for purposes of data-collection best practices.
  • Designs, audits, edits, and distributes management reports.
  • Provides critical data in a variety of formats for GCC team, school-wide colleagues, and audiences external to the school
  • Partners with the GSFS and BSFS units to assess current data platforms and usage models to develop and implement a comprehensive SFS alumni and stakeholder database.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of APSIA and NACE Reporting Standards and Regulations; and ensures that technology resources enable the GCC team to meet the APSIA and NACE standards for data reporting
  • Provides leadership and oversight of surveys to collect data from all stakeholders for long-term strategy and quick analysis.
  • Oversees the collection and analysis of GSFS internship and permanent job offer and acceptance data, and develops a system to integrate salary data
  • Delivers data as requested on schedule and ad hoc to support the SFS Deans, Board of Visitors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manages external technology relationships and platforms, as well as vendor relationships and the configuration of auxiliary resources, including all interoperability concerns and assisting with vendor contracts.
  • Contributes to effective knowledge management in SFS and University levels as opportunities exist.

System Management

  • Provides optimized usage and ongoing maintenance of the Symplicity system “WalshWorks,” including module customization; training and tech support to staff, students, alumni, and employer users; and creation of new and modification of existing user accounts.
  • Manages new student uploads, transition to alumni status, and related data fields.
  • Performs periodic data uploads.
  • Develops and adapts the system to meet developing program needs.
  • Serves as project manager/lead for system updates.
  • Creates/maintains procedures documentation.
  • Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of technical systems for achieving GCC and SFS goals.

Data Integrity

  • Creates analysis reports to determine data anomalies.
  • Works with data owners to correct data anomalies.
  • Suggests process improvements to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintains data hierarchies to ensure proper workflow for self-service.
  • References table administration.
  • Reports and analyzes historical data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information systems management, business, economics or related field
  • At least 4 years of relevant data management and integration experience
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing CRM systems such as Symplicity, Salesforce, or a related platform and integrating/customizing multiple internal platforms into a centralized system
  • Excellent understanding and integration of best practices relating to data integrity, client confidentiality, and system efficiencies
  • Demonstrated experience in working within and across organizations to build a reliable and effective data infrastructure
  • Ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent training, facilitation, and customer service skills
