Job Title: STAFF ADMINISTRATIVE/MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST Closing Date/Time: Thu. 05/25/17 11:59 PM Eastern Time Salary: $44,428.80 - $82,929.60 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Location: 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington, Virginia 22201, Virginia       Arlington County's Department of Technology Services (DTS) is filling a position for a Staff Administrative/Management Specialist responsible for providing critical financial and accounting support to Department-wide operations. DTS builds, maintains, and secures a world-class information technology environment and provides technical expertise to County departments and agencies in networking, telecommunications, database and application development, Web services, financial and emergency systems and emerging technologies.

Duties include:
  • Preparing requisitions and purchase orders for technology purchases, obtaining the proper approvals and verifying the price paid against the corresponding purchase order;
  • Monitoring and reviewing department-wide timekeeping activities;
  • Processing payments for all departmental purchases;
  • Researching vendor inquiries, preparing quotes for vendor bidding, verifying quotes and providing award notifications;
  • Managing and reconciling purchase card (credit card) activity; and
  • Monitoring and reporting on encumbered funds and Contractor hours and expenses.

Minimum Qualifications:  A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • knowledge of accounting and purchasing functions;
  • ability to monitor expenses and conduct account analysis or create and monitor requisitions and purchase orders;
  • ability to understand and follow financial policies and regulations or legal process requirements;
  • ability to analyze and process routine accounting and purchasing information;
  • ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • skill at using computer applications, software, and tools in accounting or purchasing applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Typically, this combination of experience and education is obtained through a two to four-year college or technical degree in Business Administration or Accounting and some experience performing accounting and purchasing functions.    

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience and knowledge in the use of the Oracle e-Business Suite.
