Job Title: PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE (COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES) Closing Date/Time: Thu. 05/25/17 11:59 PM Eastern Time Salary: $60,964.80 - $95,284.80 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Location: 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA (Sequoia Plaza) *ART Bus Accessible*, Virginia       We are looking for an experienced Public Health Nurse to provide case management and care coordination in the Community Health Services Bureau.  This Bureau provides the full range of public health services to improve and maintain the overall health of infants, children, pregnant women, and women and men of child bearing age desiring family planning methods. The employee will be working in clinics including Family Planning, Maternity, STI, HIV, ADAP, Immunization, and the Teen clinic. Testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections as well as medications through the Virginia AIDS Drug Assistance program (ADAP) is also provided. This Public Health Nurse will work part time in the clinical setting and part time providing case management services.

Duties include:
  • Case management and care coordination;
  • Nursing care in a clinical setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Giving immunizations in Open Immunization Clinics as well as other clinics;
  • Maintaining appropriate records and documentation to meet local, state and federal requirements;
  • Providing health education to clients, families and the community; and
  • Participating in emergency preparedness activities

 Selection Criteria: Minimums:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus one year of full-time work experience as a a Registered Nurse in general nursing and/or community/public health nursing and
  • Licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia*.
*If eligible from another state, candidate will be allowed 60 days to obtain license.

Substitution: Education may be substituted by additional directly related experience on a year for year basis

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Public Health;
  • Maternal and child health or related field
  • Home visitation-related programs;
  • Case management services; and/or
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

 Special Requirements: A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
 Additional Information: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with weekly evening and occasional weekends as needed.
