Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field with at least six (6) years of experience in a data processing environment. with experience in ESRI ArcGIS administration, configuration, etc. and Oracle database administration. Five (5) years of experience with business analysis or design or development or maintenance of large, complex enterprise GIS, GIS databases or GIS applications; 3 years task management and self-supervisory experience; Application development experience using structured methodologies.
OR, an equivalent combination of post-high school education and eight (8) years experience in a data processing environment. with experience in ESRI ArcGIS administration, configuration, etc. and Oracle database administration. Six (6) years of experience with business analysis or design or development or maintenance of large, complex enterprise GIS, GIS databases or GIS applications; 3 years task management and self-supervisory experience; Application development experience using structured methodologies.
Experience or knowledge: vendor management; resource management; feature editing on versioned ArcSDE in a .NET environment; Oracle PL/SOL - stored procedures and triggers; agile development methodologies.

GIS System administrators implement, manage, and maintain GIS software, network infrastructure, applications and computer systems for a single-network ESRl-based system running production, failover, and test environments and versioned databases spread over multiple sites. In addition GIS System Administrators interpret, analyze, recommend and implement management information systems; develop and implement computer software application programs and systems for user departments; to interface with and develop GIS applications and services; and to perform related work as required. Work in this capacity may involve any or all of three specialties: applications system administration, database administration, and web administration.

Manages ESRI products serving production feeds, administering Oracle databases, and managing GIS web services.
Develops new GIS solutions, and providing support after the product is delivered; and incorporate hardware and software solutions within the GIS architecture in order to meet the future needs of the organization.
Manages installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of spatial system including databases, software, user applications, and hardware; Designs, manages, and monitors network, Storage Area Network (SAN), middleware, and remote systems for GIS; Expands, tests, and executes upgrades involving GIS products, web publishing strategies, and system architectures; Assures spatial system quality and security.
Tunes spatial system to ensure performance requirements are met; Develops and manages failover and recovery operations for spatial system; Designs, documents, and implements spatial system administration procedures.
Designs, implements, and maintains WMATA-wide data flow and synchronization of spatial elements; Researches, analyzes, and evaluates hardware and software products for use in the Geographic Information System.
Coordinates the implementation of spatial systems with users and operations personnel.
Develops, implements, and maintains WMATA's GIS databases; Creates custom ESRI enhanced databases utilizing Oracle 1Og running on Windows.
Manages user logins, backups, archives, SOE loading and tuning, patch management, troubleshooting, and data sharing.
Designs, develops and maintains GIS database schemas and documentation; Designs, implements and monitors database reports.
Designs, develops, and implements procedures for the administration of the GIS database; Coordinates development/maintenance of tables and views in the GIS database for custom applications and business processes.
Responsible to resolve highly complex database integrity, access and utilization issues, testing, new systems and methodologies.
Develops, implements, and maintains WMATA's GIS web services; Responsible for GIS web services design and maintenance.
Expands, tests, and executes upgrades involving web publishing strategies; Manages GIS web monitoring, web GIS security, and troubleshooting.
Manages licensing; Maintains Windows servers for GIS web data.
