Department Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Schedule Full-Time Shift Requires Day and Night Shifts Hours 40 per week Job Details Perform chemical, microscopic, immunologic, hematologic, immunohematologic, and microbiologic tests to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Obtain specimens and evaluate specimen adequacy for test performance. Correlate lab findings with disease stage; integrate and relate data from other lab specialty areas. Confirm abnormal results and institute correct follow-up procedures. Perform and document quality assurance measures to assure that tolerance limits are not exceeded. Evaluate survey proficiency testing materials as required. Analyze and resolve technical problems pertaining to collection of specimen, laboratory data, and instrumentation. Calibrate instruments. Participate in education, training, and advisement of new personnel and other laboratory personnel as needed. EDUCATION Must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; or at least a high school degree (or equivalent) plus successful completion of official military training of at least 50 weeks duration plus completion of military enlistment in the occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/LICENSURE Must possess MT (ASCP) certification or AMT certification.
