GDIT has an opportunity for a Network Administrator (Mid) working with a large line of business within GDIT that is currently supporting multiple contracts for the government in the DC Metro area. We are seeking energetic, talented individuals that have a desire to help transform customer requirements supporting the mission critical IT service for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).  The Mid Level Network Administrator will be responsible for the supporting and managing the Life Safety Backbone in support of PFPA.  Specific technical responsibilities include but are not limited to the below:

 

 

The Network Administrator will be responsible for the analysis, administration and support of video, and/or data communications networks.  

  1. Analyzes, administers and maintains video, and/or data communications networks.

 2. Manages the usage and performance of  video and/or data communications networks.

 3. Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.

 4. Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.

 5. Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.

 6. Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.

 7. Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

 8. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

 9. Provides advice and training to end-users.

 10. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.

 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.

 12. Participates in special projects as required.

 

13. Supports liaising of network requests with the Joint Service Provider

 

14. Consistently updates and complies with all incident, service request and change management documentation and procedures

 

15. Responds and reports ticket resolution via the ticketing system of record

 

16. Supports network monitoring and administration

 

17. Updates system configurations in compliance with DoD regulations

 

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge/Experience with Solar Winds
  • Understanding of interior routing protocols (OSPF, static)
  • Understanding of authentication protocols such as TACACS
  • Experience with Cisco devices
  • Solid understanding of IP subnetting and VLAN administration
  • Familiarity with network device hardening standards or DISA STIGs
 

Qualifications 2-5 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.

 

Must Possess solid written and oral communication skills

 

Must meet DoD 8570 IAT II compliance included Security Plus with CE enrolled certification 

 

Ability to work an on-call rotation
