JENSEN HUGHES has an opportunity for a Ventilation Design Engineer in our Baltimore, MD office. This person will perform and grow engineering service offerings in mechanical ventilation design and analysis for a variety of occupancies, including industrial and manufacturing. These service offerings are part of an integrated suite of service offerings within a defined growth focus, encompassing process safety and adjacent fields. Resources will be provided to support business development and marketing activities. Seeking applications from both senior and mid-level experienced candidates.The ideal candidate will be ready to do the following:Design or analyze ventilation systems for a variety of occupancies ranging from laboratory to large industrial scale, including those with flammable, corrosive or toxic vaporsConduct evaluation of existing ventilation systems, or design new ventilation systems for the mitigation of combustible dust hazardsWork collaboratively with teams performing process hazard analyses or dust hazard analysesBusiness development with both existing and new clients (primarily senior position)Work with management and other internal BD resources to execute strategic plansBe involved in regional and national industry organizationsConduct or support ventilation system failure analysis projects, and other forensic engineering activitiesMay serve as expert, guest speaker or contributing author to publications in niche areaRequirements:Possess high-level written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, etc., and to respond to questions from clients, prospective clients, management, internal staff, and outside entitiesKnowledge of the key design considerations for industrial and commercial ventilation systemsKnowledge of MEP/HVACR equipment, processes and design; experience with construction projects/processesExperience with application of codes and standardsFor senior staff - ability to build and execute strategic plans to grow market share, with assistance of management, and the technical, BD and marketing staffPrior experience working in a plant, and/or working with pressure relief/venting systems is desirable, but not requiredA background in industrial hygiene and/or process safety is desirable, but not criticalBachelor's degree (BS) or higher in Mechanical or other Engineering, and 5 or more years of related experience and/or training; ORAn equivalent degree in a related field with focused professional experience in industrial ventilation system designProfessional Engineer (PE), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or comparable certification strongly preferred25%-50% travel time required
