Payroll Specialist/Jr. Payroll Specialist
The George Mason University Office of Human Resources and Payroll seeks a detail-oriented and organized team player to provide payroll support and processing as a Payroll Specialist. Responsibilities: This position is part of a larger employee service team and is responsible for the full-range of payroll processing activities, to include: * Payroll editing; * Automated time processing; * Tax processing; * Adjustments; * Leave processing; * Employment verifications; * Audit; and * Customer service related to the payroll function.
Applicants should desire to work in a team environment, where priorities change rapidly and customer service is considered essential.
Required Qualifications: * Superior communication, organizational, prioritizing and customer service skills; * Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material; * Problem-solving and analytical skills, and mathematical ability; * Ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of different backgrounds; and * Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelors degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Certified Payroll Professional; * Experience with the Ellucian Banner system, or an equivalent in-house system is preferred; and * Experience working in a high-volume payroll office environment.
