Sr Technician, Electronics
Fabricates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies electronic developmental and production equipment, parts, components, and systems according to engineering instructions. 1. Performs complex technical functions in support of engineering activities such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical components and systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment for the FM and RF communications of the JPMRC-IS for sustainment operations. RF technician is responsible for the installation, integration, testing and maintenance of the wireless broadband transport systems and land mobile radio systems. Must have ability and knowledge to perform advanced troubleshooting, RF testing and system optimization. 2. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions. 3. Conducts complex engineering tests to collect design data or assist in general research work. Employ variety of specialized test equipment and complex electronic schematics and diagram in conducting fault isolation, and use th data gained through the troubleshooting/repair process to prepare and revice maintenance instructions and procedures and to recommend and implement manufacturer/engineering changes. 4. Diagnoses and isolates equipment and system malfunctions which fail to respond to standard corrective measures. 5. Assists in the development of electronic equipment. Ensure all maintenance, training, supply and property process/practices supporting site operations are implemented and documented in MAXIMO. 6. Repairs or modifies cables and equipment returned by operational users or by personnel in the associated test and development laboratories. 7. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians. Assist with programming and configuration of all system components. 8. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Apply technical knowledge of FM voice recording, loading of encryption fills, TMDE, development and application of Signal Operating Instruction (SOI), UHF/VHF/MW frequency management, use of FM radio and requirements for classified signal or computer equipment, and capture equipment for after action report (AAR) purposes. 9. Participates in special projects as required and support other duties as assigned. Education Required education: HS Diploma or equivalent Desired education: Associates Degree or higher in a related technical discipline in communication or electronics, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience. May substitute education with 5 years plus equivalent military training, technical school, or professional experiences. Qualifications Special Requirements: 1. Must posses or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance, a valid driver's license, travel off road in company 4x4 vehicles and military tactical vehicles, if required. Fluent in English. Must be a U.S. citizen. 2. 4-6 years of related experience fabricating, maintaining and repairing electronic components. 3. Required experience: 5 years experience in RF communication, (secure and unsecure) satelite communications, P-25 radio operations, VOPI fiber distribution equipment (secure and unsecure).
