Malaria Liver Stage Screening Support Technician (WRAIR-In Vitro Core)
GDIT is seeking a Malaria Liver Stage Screening Support Technician (In Vitro Core) to support the mission of the Experimental Therapeutics (ET) Branch of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). The mission of the WRAIR Branch of Experimental Therapeutics is to discover and develop new pharmaceutical agents to protect military members from death, disease, and injury. The ET Branch is organized into three distinct departments which contribute to the different phases leading to FDA drug approval. The three comprising departments are the Departments of Drug Discovery, Drug Development, and Clinical Pharmacology.This position is in direct support of the Department of Drug Discovery. Specific tasks include:
- Provide in vitro liver stage malaria and toxicity screen support.Perform in vitro Inhibition of Liver Stage Development Assay (ILSDA).Manage the isolation of malaria sporozoites from mosquito salivary glands.Assist in optimizing an in vitro screen for assessing drug effects on liver stage of malaria.Execute in vitro assay for cell toxicity (in HepH2 and macrophages Raw264.7 cells).Provide malaria sporozoites to support the in vivo mouse malaria model systems.Analyze and summarize experimental data for reports and presentations and publications.Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to applicable safety regulations.Attend and present at relevant national scientific conferences, if required by Department of Discovery.
